FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - UT Dallas sophomore
Alex Bozhilov set a new program 8,000-meter record as the Comets competed at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival at Agri Park Saturday.
The UTD men finished 26th out of 32 teams in the elite McDonnell Memorial race, while the women finished seventh of 34 in the Prairie Fire Pepper 5K.
Bozhilov finished in 64th place out of 285 runners with a time of 25:15.2. His time bested
Christopher Castro's 2023 record by 4.5 seconds.Â
Junior
Frank Douglas was 125th in 26:00.6 and freshman
Alan Sutherland took 175th in 26:45.8. Sophomore
Anthony Stuart was just behind in 26:48.4 and junior
Erik Grover rounded out the scoring with a time of 27:33.5, placing 219th.
Sophomore
Alexia Callahan paced the Comets for the fourth consecutive race, placing 16th in 19:04.7. Her mark was the sixth-best in school history. Sophomore
Bharvi Varu had the 10th-best time at UTD in 19:16.6, finishing 20th.
Junior
Ellie Suo-Anttila placed 50th in 20:02.6 and freshman
Brianne Vasquez was 86th in 20:49.4. Senior
Abby Valdez ran the course in 21:30.7, finishing in 113th out of 239.Â
The Comets will run again next Saturday, October 11th at the Old Glory Gallop in Fort Worth.
