CANYON, Texas - UT Dallas sophomore
Alex Bozhilov took first place in the men's 10,000-meter run to wrap up the first day of the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at WTAMU Track & Field Complex on Thursday.
Bozhilov, from Sofia, Bulgaria, won the race by more than 23 seconds, giving the Comets their first points of the meet. He was neck-and-neck with WT's Tommasi Toppi before taking the lead for good around the 6K mark. Bozhilov's time also broke his own school record by 48 seconds. For his winning efforts, Bozhilov will earn All-LSC First Team honors.

Jay Hicks shaved .19 seconds off his school-record 200-meter dash time in 21.19, placing 12th.

Matthew Kenney took 14th in the 110-meter hurdles in personal-best 15.03 seconds.

Andrew Hopkins placed 17th with a time of 4:09.65.

Nick Hofer is in fifth place with 3,007 points and junior
JD Koller is in sixth with 2,885.
- Hofer was second among the decathletes with a high jump height of 1.84 meters (6 ft.-.5 in.) and third in the 400 in 52.74 seconds.
- Koller was fourth with a personal-record shot put of 10.93 meters (35 ft.-10.5 in.) and was fifth with a long jump of 5.98 meters (19 ft.-7.5 in.)
Comet Women's Highlights
- Freshman
E'Mon Mason broke her own school record in the 200-meter preliminaries, with a 13th-place time of 24.69 seconds.
- Freshman
Grace Pritchard tied for 10th with a triple jump of 10.72 meters (35 ft.-2 in.).
- Sophomore
Alexia Callahan ran the 10,000 meters in 40:56.95, placing 15th.
- Sophomore
Rowen Hughes was 19th in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.24 seconds.
