Box Score AUSTIN, TX - The UT Dallas women's basketball team picked up its second straight American Southwest Conference win Monday, jumping on Concordia University-Texas early and hanging on for a 74-62 win.
The Comets (4-1, 2-0) came out of the gate strong and built an early 21-3 advantage just nine minutes into the game. But Concordia came to life before halftime and was down just 39-34 at intermission.
The Tornados did start several second-half rallies, but the Comets held them at bay each time. UTD increased its second-half lead out to 46-35 to open the period, but CTX had cut that lead down to 4 points (64-60) with 3:20 left in the game. From that point, the Comets surrendered just one more Tornado basket.
UTD shot an impressive 56.5 percent in the first half and dominated the boards, out-rebounding Concordia, 44-26. UTD also hit 22-of-27 free throw attempts.
Chelsea Edwards, who was 8-of-8 at the free throw line, led the Comet charge with 19 points and four assists' but an equally impressive performance came from junior post
Rachel Addision, who recorded her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Teammate
Lauren Hale added 13 points and had 7 rebounds.
