WACO, TX (03.22.09) – In what was supposed to be a humbling experience competing against the nation's No. 7-ranked Division I team, the UT Dallas men's tennis team actually pulled off one match win at Baylor University Sunday afternoon.
UTD's No. 6 singles player,
Jay DeCoste, picked up UTD's lone point in the 6-1 dual match loss, taking Baylor's John Arvesen to tiebreakers in the second and third set to claim the win, 1-6, 7-5 (7-2), 1-0 (10-5). UTD also got set victories from No. 1 singles player
Nick Clifford (3-6, 1-6), No. 3 singles
Donald Kasitinon (0-6, 3-6) and No. 4 singles
Chris Roberts (0-6, 1-6).
All three UTD doubles teams lost their match, but the No. 2 team of
Derek DeCoste and
Eric DeBusschere fought hard in an 8-4 loss.
