Box Score AUSTIN, TX (01.06.11) - The UT Dallas women's basketball team led by as many as eight points with just under eight minutes to play, but a late scoring drought prevented the Comets from securing the victory in a 66-61 road loss at Concordia-Texas Thursday in American Southwest Conference play.
With 7:22 remaining in the contest, the Comets held their largest lead in the second half, 55-47, before the late collapse. The host Tornados then used a 9-1 run over the next 2:22 to knot the game, 56-56, with exactly 5:00 to play before turning the eight-point deficit to a five-point win. Concordia would outscore the Comets, 19-6, over the final 7:22 of the game as the Comets hit just two shots from the field and a pair of free throws.
The late collapse was particularly frustrating for UTD, which had fought back from as much as a nine-point deficit (37-28) early in the second half and used a 27-10 run to build that 55-47 lead.
Junior guard
Lindsey Smith led three UTD players in double figures with 15 points while senior
