Box Score MARSHALL, TX (09.28.12) - The UT Dallas volleyball team was handed its first American Southwest Conference loss of the season Friday night as the Comets fell in four sets to East Texas Baptist in East Division play. The host Tigers downed UTD, 25-20, 25-17, 25-27, 25-20.
The Comets (now 12-3, 6-1 ASC) hit just .108 as a team as they had their six-match winning streak come to an end. Freshman
Abbie Barth was a bright spot for UTD with 19 kills and 16 digs as no other Comet had more than eight kills in the four-set match. The Tigers hit .228 as a squad and out-blocked UTD, 10-8, and averaged more than two digs per set that the Comets.
Halea Williams finished with eight kills while
Dana Hilzendager had six kills. Freshman setter
Kayla Jordan averaged just under nine assists per set, with 35 assists, while libero
Amy Gunter had a team-best 17 digs.
ETBU (now 9-5, 6-1 ASC) move into a tie for first place with the Comets in the ASC East with the win. Kassie Freitag finished with a match-high 25 kills, leading three Tigers in double digits.
UTD continues its weekend road trip Saturday afternoon at Mississipp College. Game time is 2 p.m. in Clinton, Miss.
