Box Score 2 TYLER, TX (10.11.13) - The UT Dallas volleyball team continues to roll as the Comets picked up two key American Southwest Conference victories Friday, downing East Texas Baptist (3-1) and LeTourneau (3-0) as part of an ASC interpod tournament hosted by Texas-Tyler.
The Comets (now 18-6, 10-1 ASC) are now 16-1 over their last 17 matches currently lead the ASC outright after Friday's wins. UTD closes the event Saturday with matches against Mississippi College (12 p.m.) and host UT-Tyler (2 p.m.).
UTD 3, East Texas Baptist 1 (25-21, 17-25, 25-14, 25-22)
Meredith Crawford had a team-high 15 kills to lead three Comets in double figures as UTD held off the Tigers, 25-21, 17-25, 25-14, 25-22. Crawford added 14 digs and a block.
Taylour Toso had 13 kills and
Abbie Barth added 11 kills.
Setter
Kayla Jordan averaged better than 10 assists per set, finishing the match with 42 assists, while
Holyn Handley and
Blake Johnson each finished with a match-high four blocks. Barth lead the match with 28 digs.
UTD 3, LeTourneau 0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-9)
UTD hit .366 as a team as Comets cruised the the 25-15, 25-18, 25-9, sweep of the YellowJackets to close Friday's play.
Crawford again led the Comets offensively, finishing with a match-high 15 kills, hitting .448, while adding 13 digs. Barth added 12 kills, hitting .357, with eight digs and an ace. Jordan averaged better than 12 assists per set, finishing with 37 assists, while libero
