Comets Roll Off Another Win, Down LeTourneau, 74-58, On The Road

Box Score LONGVIEW, TX (01.09.14) - The UT Dallas women's basketball team led wire-to-wire as the Comets picked up their fourth straight double-digit win Thursday night, a 74-58 victory over LeTourneau American Southwest Conference play.

The Comets (now 9-1, 6-1 ASC) have now bounced back from their first loss of the season with four consecutive impressive wins to return to the top of the ASC standings, now tied with rival Texas-Tyler.

UTD shot 53.8 percent from the field on the night with Morgan Kilgore leading the way with 23 points. Kilgore was 10-for-17 from the floor, hitting all three free-throw attempts, and added two rebounds and two steals. Christina Brosnahan rounded out the Comets in double figures with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting with a pair of three-pointers. Amber Brown and Kimmie Grimes each led UTD with four boards while Brown also had a team-best four assists.

Leading 39-27 at the break, UTD maintained its double-digit lead throughout the second half. The Comets led by as many as 21 points in the frame before settling for the 16-point win. The Comets were 13-of-24 as a team from the field in the second half and were an efficient 8-for-10 from the foul line.

For the game, UTD was 28-of-52 from the field, hitting 5-of-14 three-pointers (35.7%) and hit 13-of-17 (76.5%) free throws. The Comets slightly out-rebouned LETU, 36-31.

For LeTourneau (now 4-7, 2-6 ASC), Ashley Crockett came off the bench for a team-high 18 points while Julencia Curtis finished with 12 points. Ashley Stephens collected a game-best eight rebounds. The YellowJackets shot just 30.6 percent (19-of-62) from the field, hitting just 2-of-8 three-pointers (25%), and were 18-of-21 (85.7%) from the foul line.

The Comets close out their short two-game road swing Saturday afternoon at East Texas Baptist. Game time is 1 p.m. in Marshall.
