Concordia Ends UTD's Season One Win Shy Of ASC Championship Game

TANNER GANDY WAS THE ONLY COMET WITH MULTIPLE HITS IN THE FINAL GAME.
Box Score AUSTIN, TX (05.10.14) - A 5-2 loss to Concordia University in the final elimination game of the 2014 American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament ended the season for the University of Texas at Dallas Comets one game away from playing for a conference title.

Concordia (30-13) answered each of UTD's two scoring rallies early in the game, then put the game out of reach with two runs in their last at-bat.

The third-seeded Comets' season came to an end with a 27-17 record, ending a remarkable run at the tournament that saw UTD overcome injury and depth issues to advance as one of the three final teams in the tournament.

single, Clounch walk and hit batter, but couldn't knot the game. Those were the Comets' last baserunners as CTX starter Keil Harmon and Holmes shut down UTD the rest of the way.

The Tornados then put the game out of reach in the top of the 8th, getting two runs after another leadoff double and two more hits, one walk and a Comet error, leaving the bases loaded to end the inning.

Gandy was the only Comet with multiple hits, finishing the game 2-for-5.

Outfielder Pierce Fly, who was 6-for-15 for the tournament with two runs scored and three RBI, was UTD's lone selection on the All-Tournament Team.
