Dimitrius Underwood and
Hans Burwitz combined for 56 points and each recorded a 'double-double' as the UT Dallas men's basketball team earned a 91-80, hard-fought non-conference win over Southwest Assemblies of God University Saturday night.
Underwood finished with 28 points and a game-high 15 rebounds while Burwitz added 28 points of his own along with 11 boards as the duo accounted for more than half of the Comets' offensive production in the victory.
Michael Forster rounded out the UTD players in double digits as he contributed 15 points while adding eight rebounds as the Comets topped 90 points for the third time this season.
The Comets (9-3) did most of their damage in the paint and from the charity stripe as they finished the night shooting 44.1 percent (30-of-68) while hitting just 4-of-10 three-pointers (40%). UTD was 27-of-34 (79.4%) from the free-throw line.
Underwood was 16-for-19 from the free-throw line, accounting for more than half of his points in his team-leading sixth 'double-double' performance of the season. Underwood hit just 6-of-18 shots from the field overall. Burwitz was 11-for-17 from the floor in his fifth 'double-double' of the year while hitting 5-of-6 free throws and dishing out a game-high four assists.
The Comets return to American Southwest Conference play Monday afternoon when they visit McMurry. Tip-off is 2 p.m. in Abilene.
