Box Score GEORGETOWN, TX (03.05.19) - The UT Dallas baseball team was handed a 5-4 loss in 12 innings at Southwestern on Tuesday afternoon as the Comets took a short break from conference play.
The Comets had a 3-2 lead in the 8th before the host Pirates got a two-out RBI double from Ethan Hallmark to knot the game. After a scoreless 9th, UTD headed to extra innings for the first time this season.
After another scoreless frame in 10th,
Thomas Craig gave the Comets back the lead with his third hit of the day, an RBI single up the middle, scoring
Austin Adams from second base. However, Southwestern answered with a run in the bottom of the frame and walked off the with victory with no outs in the bottom of the 12th after a run-scoring single by Seth Sparks.
One of the top hitters in the American Southwest Conference this season, Craig finished Tuesday's contest 3-for-6 with an RBI while the rest of the Comets went just 2-for-37 from the plate in the loss.
The Comets (6-9) return to ASC play Friday night at 7 p.m. when they open a three-game set at East Texas Baptist. The two teams will then return to the field at 1 p.m Saturday for a doubleheader.
