ABILENE, TX (02.27.21) - With two men's sprinters competing at Hardin-Simmons Invite Saturday, the Comet track & field program officially began at UT Dallas.

With the majority of the teams preparing for the American Southwest Conference Cross Country Championships on Mar. 3, only two members of the men's team made the trip to Abilene in the program's first-ever competition.
Chase Koeppen and Muaaz Makda were the sole representives from UTD in the meet.
Koeppen competed in the 400-meter dash, placing 20th with a time of 56.14. Makda ran in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Makda recorded a time of 11.67 in the 100, placing 19th, and a time of 23.58 in the 200, placing 14th.
Makda currently ranks 13th in NCAA Division III in the 200 and 18th in the 100 while Koeppen ranks 14th in the country in the 400.
The Comets return to action Mar. 5-6 when they travel to San Antonio for the Trinity Invite.
