Comet Men Compete Strong at Trinity Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, TX (03.06.21) - Six members of the UT Dallas men's track & field program took to the track Saturday as the Comets competed in the Trinity Invitational.

Freshman Graeme Maclean, fresh off behind named the American Southwest Conference Freshman of the Year earlier in the week, recorded the seventh-fastest time in the 1,500-meter run this season in NCAA Division III as he placed fourth in the event with a time of 4:08.69. Trent Sakakini (4:18.43) placed 11th in the event while Andres Uriegas (4:23.81) was 14th.

Muaaz Makda recorded two of the top times in NCAA D-III in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. Makda placed 17th in the 200 with a time of 23:08 while placing eighth in the 400 at 50.82.  Chase Koeppen finished 22nd in the 100-meter dash at 12.06 and 30th in the 200 at 24.29.

The Comets' 4x400-meter relay squad made its debut as well on Saturday, placing 11th with a time of 3:35.67. The foursome of Koeppen, Makda, Uriegas and Griffin Davis recorded the 16th fastest time so far in NCAA D-III this spring.

The Comets return to action this Saturday at the Texas-Tyler IceBreaker in Bullard.
