ABILENE, TX (04.18.21) - The UT Dallas men's and women's track & field squads wrapped up the regular season Friday competing at the War Hawks Classic, hosted by McMurry.
Another record fell and the Comets competed in their first field events in program history as they had their final tune up before the American Southwest Conference Championships, Apr. 29-May 1 in Jackson, Miss.
Graeme Maclean bested his own school record in the 5,000-meter run as he placed second with a time of 15:34.76.
Trent Sakakini recorded a personal best in the 1,500-meter run as he won the event in a time of 4:09.53, pacing seven Comets in the event.
Griffin Davis placed eighth at 4:20.17,
Justin Ardis 22nd at 4:38.57,
Kyle Rubens 23rd at 4:39.30,
Christian Kondor 29th at 4:46.43,
John Joseph 33rd at 4:48.60 and
Joel Guzman 35th at 4:57.91.
Muaaz Makda competed in both the 200- and 400-meter dashes at McMurry. Makda placed 13th ain the 200 at 23.15 and sixth in the 400 at 51.28. Sakakini also placed eighth in the 800-meter run at 2:05.04 while Ardis placed 21st in the event at 2:09.65.
Jack Newton placed 10th in the javelin throw with a mark of 24.00 meters.
On the women's side, three Comets competed in the 1,500 with
Hannah Bennett leading the pack in 13th place at 5:34.79.
Anna Schaeffer placed 17th at 5:42.52 and
Rachel Kahler placed 20th at 6:00.58.
Mackenzie Salmonson won the high jump with a mark of 1.47 meters while
Jocelyn Heckenkamp placed eighth in the javelin throw at 20.09 meters.
