RICHARDSON, TX (05.11.21) - The UT Dallas baseball team is just two wins away from its third-ever trip to the NCAA Division III Baseball National Championship and will have a chance to clinch that berth this weekend as the Comets host East Texas Baptist in the best-of-three American Southwest Conference Championships Series at the UTD Baseball Field, starting Thursday.

ASC TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

The Comets (27-10) will be looking for just their second ASC title in program history, claiming their only crown in 2018 on the road. UTD also made a trip to the NCAA D-III National Championship as an at-large selection in 2007.

Top-seeded UTD rolled through the ASC's Blue Bracket his past weekend earning three home wins to punch its ticket to the league's Gold Bracket. The Comets opened last week's event with an 11-4 win over LeTourneau before downing Mary Hardin-Baylor, 5-4, and Concordia Texas, 9-6, to extend their winning streak to a season-high eight games. UTD is making just is second-ever trip to the ASC's Gold Bracket since the league adopted its current postseason structure in 2016. The Comets also made ASC finals appearances in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2011 and 2015.

The second-seeded Tigers (29-14) was a perfect 3-0 on their run through the ASC's Red Bracket this past weekend in Marshall. ETBU edged Belhaven, 2-1, in 11 innings to open the event before picking up wins over Ozarks, 10-3, and Louisiana College, 11-5. The Tigers will be playing for their first-ever ASC championship, making just its second all-time appearance in the title game. ETBU made the ASC's Gold Bracket in 2017.

Spectators will be limited to 200 fans per contest, split evenly between the two opposing teams. Spectators will have their temperatures checked at the ticket booth and will be issued a wrist band for their game. Pass lists have been submitted by both participating teams. Daily Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
