COMMERCE, TX (09.10.21) - The UT Dallas men's and women's cross country teams returned to action Friday night as the Comets competed at the East Texas Shootout, hosted by Texas A&M-Commerce.

The Comet men claimed their second-straight team title while running their first 8K of the fall while the UTD women earned a second-place finish in the 5K event.
Devan Bailey was the Comets' top finisher for the second straight week as he set a personal best in the 8K with a time of 25:39.70, placing third individually.
Griffin Davis placed fourth at 25:44.13 while
Trent Sakakini was fifth at 25:51.40. Both Davis and Sakakini also recorded personal bests in the meet.
Jayden Chambless placed 16th at 26:41.05 and
Ethan Conville rounded out the Comet scorers in 20th place at 27:04.73.
On the women's side,
Maddie Ellis was the squad's top finisher, placing seventh with a time of 19:41.77.
Hannah Bennett was 11th at 20:05.98,
Madylin Herrera 12th at 20:11.47,
Julie Bull 18th at 20:31.22 and
Rebecca Betanzo 26th at 21:13.24.
The Comet men and women are back in action Saturday, Sep. 18, as the they travel to Memphis, Tenn., for the Rhodes College Invitational.
