SAN ANTONIO, TX (03.05.22) - The UT Dallas men's and women's track team kicked off their spring season at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday.
Trent Sakakini set a Comet record in the 1500-meter, placing second overall, with a time of 3:57:50.
Matthew Chimitt ran a 4:06:08 and
Mitch Carter ran a 4:20.64.
Sakakini also led the Comets with a 1:57.45 in the 800-meter, placing third overall at the meet.
Justin Ardis finished in 2:00:97.
Nathaniel Brim ran a 2:03.53.
Matthew Chimitt had a 2:06.12 and
Mitch Carter ran a 2:09.05.
Devan Bailey had an impressive outing breaking another Comet school record in the 10000-meter, placing third overall at the meet with a time of 33:02.63.
Andres Uriegas finished fifth with a time of 33:24.72 and
Griffin Davis clocked a 33:54.91 finishing sixth.
Jayden Chambless came in fourth for the Comets in the 5000-meter with a time of 16:16.43.
Rohan Springer ran a 17:23.42.
Muaaz Makda finished placed seventh in the 400-meter with a personal best running a 49.99 which is a school record.
Rebecca Betanzo led the Comet women in the 800-meter running a 2:38.93 setting a UTD school record.
Abbey Whittle finished the 100m dash in 15.62 and ran a 32.26 in the 200m dash for the Comet women.
Brynne Blackmar led the Comets in the javelin throw with a 29.10-meter throw.
The Comets will return to action on Saturday, March 19, at the Ice Breaker Classic, hosted by UT Tyler.
