COMMERCE, TX (04.09.22) - In their first action in three weeks, the UT Dallas men's and women's track & field programs broke seven records and set marks in two new events as the Comets competed at the East Texas Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M-Commerce.

For the Comet men, newcomer
Christian Pack set school records in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes while
Muaaz Makda broke his own mark in the 400-meter dash on Saturday.
Andres Uriegas broke the program's mark in the 5,000-meter run whileÂ
Dami Oyadiran also broke the school record in the long jump. In addition, the Comets' competed in the 4x100-meter relay for the first time in program history.
Pack ran a time of 11.02 in the 100 meters while recorded a time of 22.54 in the 200 in his record-breaking day.
Rami Habbas (11.37), Oyadiran (11.50),
Raphael Park (11.52) also competed in the 100 while Makda (22.79), Habbas (23.75), Park (24.24) and Oyardiran (24.35) ran the 200.
Makda, who broke his own record in the 200 two heats prior to Pack, bested his own mark in the 400 with a time of 49.53. The Comets had four runners compete in the 800-meter run with
Matthew Chimitt leading the way with a person-best time of 2:00.44.
Justin Ardis (2:00.92),
Nathaniel Brim (2:04.00) and
Gavin Thomas (2:07.76) also ran the 800 for the Comets.'
Chimitt also was the Comets' top performer in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:06.09 with teammates
Mitch Carter (4:20.00), Thomas (4:27.11), Brim (4:28.06),
Rohan Springer (4:37.99),
Joseph Kirby (4:39.62),
Rafael Popoca (4:42.97) and
Joel Guzman (4:56.26) also competing in the event.
Uriegas' time of 15:17.49 in the 5,000 set a new school mark while
Trent Sakakini (15:37.60) and
Jayden Chambless (16:07.26) both set season bests in the event.
The Comets' 4x100-meter relay team of Pack, Park, Makda and Habbas finished the program's first-ever race in the event with a time of 43.86. The 4x400 squad of Makda, Chimitt, Brim and Ardis recorded a time of 3:31.34.
In the field events, Oyardiran's leap of 6.54 meters broke his own mark set last month while
Jackson Tucker recorded a throw of 32.16 meters in the discus.
On the women's side,
Brynne Blackmar broke her own school records in the high jump and javelin throw while
Kris Castillo recorded the first-ever mark in the pole vault for UTD.
Blackmar set the new school record in the high jump with a leap of 1.55 meters while also breaking her own mark in the javelin with a throw of 33.85m. Castillo's vault of 2.38 meters also found a spot in the Comet women's record book.
Rebecca Betanzo was the lone runner in the field for the Comet women, recording a time of 5:34.29 in the 1,500.
The Comets have one final warm-up on the schedule before the ASC Championships next month as the UTD men and women will compete in the War Hawks Classic, hosted by McMurry on Friday, Apr. 15.
