KINGWOOD, Texas - The #5/8 UT Dallas women's golf won the Lidlifter by 76 strokes to open the 2023 spring schedule.
The Comets shot a 307-298=605 for a +10. The 298 on Tuesday was the third-best team round in program history and the 605 was the second-best 36-hole score.
Individually, UTD had five of the top six finishers. Senior
Karen Lee won her second tournament of the year, shooting a 75-70=145 (+1). She led the field with nine birdies over the two rounds. Lee's 70 was tied for the second-lowest score in Comet history while the 145 is the third-best 36-hole tally.
Senior
Karen Alvarez was second with a 77-75=152 (+8) after making a tournament-best 21 pars. Sophomore
Sofia Trevino was third with a 77-76=153 (+9) and junior
Maddy Vilven took fourth with a 78-77=155 (+11). Vilven was second in the tournament with seven birdies. Freshman
Shreya Krishnan finished sixth in her collegiate debut, shooting a 78-83=161 (+17).
UTD will compete again on March 19-20 when they host the Texas Cup at Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson.
