GRANBURY, Texas - The #9/10 UT Dallas women's golf team is in the lead of the American Southwest Conference Championship after the first round at Nutcracker Golf Course.
In addition, Comet sophomore
Sofia Trevino has a three-shot lead for the individual title with a 74 (+2).
UTD totaled a 312 (+24) on Friday and sits ahead of UC Santa Cruz (314/+26) by two shots. LeTourneau (320/+32) is in third, followed by #18/18 Mary Hardin-Baylor (322/+34), Concordia Texas (326/+38), Hardin-Simmons (333/+45) and East Texas Baptist (353/+65).
Trevino sits in first after leading the field with four birdies.
Karen Lee is in a four-way tie for second with a 77 (+5) and
Maddy Vilven shot an 80 (+8) and is tied for 11th.
Karen Alvarez and
Shreya Krishnan, both made an 81 (+9) to tie for 15th.
Vilven and Lee led the Comets with 11 pars on the day. Lee also was one of two players to drain an eagle, scoring a three on hole nine.
Round two of the 54-hole tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday.
