DENTON, Texas - The #13/20 UT Dallas men's golf team is tied for seventh after the first two rounds of the DBU Classic at Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch.
Playing against mostly NCAA Division II competition, the Comets shot a 292-302=594 (+18) and are 17 shots off the lead and five back of 17. Host Dallas Baptist's B team leads the 15-team field with a +1. East Texas Baptist, the only other Division III team in the tournament, is in 10th at +24.
Sophomore Jarett Grinnel leads UTD with a 70-73=143 (+1) and is tied for eighth. His first round 70 was a career low as he sunk eight birdies over the 36 holes.
Daniel Shofner is tied for 25th with a 73-75=148 (+4), while making 26 pars.
Andrew Chow shot a 74-78=152 (+8) and is tied for 47th while
Tyler Durden is tied for 55th with a 78-76=154 (+10).
Jack Wilson from the DBU B squad leads the tournament with a -8.
The final round will tee off at 8 a.m. Tuesday with a shotgun start.
