CONYERS, Ga. - The UT Dallas men's golf team finished the 2024-25 season by placing second at the Discover Dekalb Invitational at Cherokee Run Golf Club Sunday.
The Comets shot a 294-299-303=896 for a +32, placing behind host Emory (878/+14). Emory's second team was third (+36/900) and Averett placed fourth (+39/903) in the 12-team event.
Graduate student
Parker McCurdy finished in a tie for fourth place, shooting a 75-73-73=221 (+5). Sophomore
Reese Tortone tied for 10th at 72-74-77=223 (+7). Junior
Tyler Durden moved up 17 spots to tie for 13th with a 77-77-74=228 (+12) and sophomore
Hunter Wolfinger recorded a 73-77-79=229 (+13) to tie for 18th. Senior
Andrew Chow tied for 20th, posting a +14 74-76-80=230 and graduate student
Daniel Shofner tied for 29th with a 76-76-80=232.
McCurdy and Durden each had 10 birdies in the tournament. Wolfinger sank eight birdies and Tortone had seven and an eagle.
As a team, UTD broke the season school record for average per round at 289.70.Â
McCurdy set a new program record with a 72.09 shots per round average on the season. He also broke the career average record at 72.60.
Shofner, the most decorated golfer in Comet history, ends his career holding the school records in rounds played (95), birdies (289) and eagles (9).
