CONYERS, Ga. - The UT Dallas men's golf team is in second place after the first two rounds of the Discover Dekalb Invitational at Cherokee Run Golf Club Saturday.
The Comets shot a +17, 294-299=593 and trail host Emory (+4/580) by 13 shots. Averett is just behind UTD with a +21/597 in the 12-team field.
Sophomore
Reese Tortone leads the Comets with a 72-74=146 (+2) and is tied for fourth place.
Parker McCurdy is also in the top 10, tied for ninth with a 75-73=148 (+4).
Hunter Wolfinger and
Andrew Chow are tied for 14th with a +6/150s on the day. Graduate student
Daniel Shofner fired a 76-76=152 (+8) and is tied for 17th.
McCurdy sank seven birdies over the first two rounds, while Tortone made six and an eagle.
Tyler Durden also made six birdies.
The Comets will play the final round of the 2024-25 season on Sunday when they tee off at 7:12 a.m. CT.
