ALEXANDRIA, La. - The UT Dallas men's golf team claimed the 2023 American Southwest Conference Championship by 15 strokes while sophomore Andrew Chow earned individual medalist honors at the Oakwing Golf Club Sunday afternoon.

The #12/14 Comets shot a 281-282-287=850, 14 under par. The tally tied the program record for lowest 54-hole score and was tied for the second best score in ASC Championship history. East Texas Baptist was second with a 865 (+1), followed by Mary Hardin-Baylor (866/+2), Concordia Texas (869/+5), LeTourneau (878/+14), Hardin-Simmons (882/+18), Howard Payne (884/+20) and McMurry (911/+47).

It is the second ASC title in program history, with the last coming in 2003.

With the win, first-year head coach Cole Sondgeroth's squad earns the league's automatic qualifier to NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship in Nicholasville, Ky. beginning May 16. 

Chow shot a 66-72-72=210 for a -6 and tied with ETBU's Kip Childress. Chow secured the medalist title by winning a one-hole playoff. He is the first Comet to win the tournament since Clayton Houser in 2003. Chow's 210 is tied for the lowest 54-hole score in Comet history.

Cole Wiley tied for third place with a 73-71-69=213 (-3), which is the sixth-best score in UTD history. He joined Tyler Durden on the All-Tournament Team, who finished fifth with a 72-69-73=214 (-2). 

Daniel Shofner tied for 22nd with a 75-70-77=22 (+6) and Joseph Park scored 71-79-73=223 (+7) for 24th. 

Shofner and Chow each made an eagle during the tournament, while Chow and Durden led the field with 15 birdies each. Park led the Comets with 38 pars.
