WICHITA FALLS, Texas - UT Dallas senior
Sofia Trevino became the new program leader in career birdies on Tuesday after sinking eight over three rounds of the Midwestern State Invitational at Wichita Falls Country Club.
Trevino now has 135 for her career, surpassing All-American Karen Alvarez who made 134 from 2019-23.
The Comets placed 11th at the tournament with a +91 320-314-321=955. Odessa College won the 13-team event that featured three top 25 NCAA Division II squads.
Trevino paced UTD, tying for 13th with a 75-78-76=229 (+13). Junior
Mia Gaboriau tied for 18th at 74-75-82=231 (+15) and senior
Maddy Vilven was tied for 4th with a 77-81-82=239 (+23). Senior
Danielle Dimafelix rounded out the scoring with a +40 94-80-82=256, tying for 68th.
Gaboriau made seven birdies and an eagle during the two-day event. Vilven sank five birdies and Dimafelix came up with four.
The MSU Invitational is the final competition of the fall for the Comet women's golf team.
