HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - The UT Dallas women's golf team sits in third place out of 11 teams after the opening rounds of the Battle for the Belt at Hot Springs Country Club Sunday.
Host Henderson State leads the field with a +15 (591), followed by Harding (+28/604) and the Comets, who shot a 299-311=610 for a +34. Arkansas-Monticello (+36/612) and Southeastern Oklahoma State (+37/613) round out the top five.
Freshman
Camilah Porras paced UTD on the first day, shooting a 73-76=149 (+5), tying for third.
Molly Woods (72-78=150/+6) and
Mia Gaboriau (77-73=150/+6), who is playing as an individual, are tied for sixth.Â
Syrah Javed is tied for 21st with a 79-76=155 (+11) and individual
Leya Glazer is tied for 26th at 78-79=157.
Carla van Remmen is tied for 28th at 77-81=158 (+14).
Porras, Woods and Gaboriau each made five birdies on Sunday. van Remmen sank the 18th eagle in program history in the first round.
The Comets will wrap up the trip to the Natural State with the third round Monday.
