HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - The UT Dallas women's golf team finished the Battle for the Belt at Hot Springs Country Club in third place after the final round on Tuesday.
The Comets shot a 299-311-302=912 (+48), placing behind host Henderson State (+31/895) and Harding (+43/907) and ahead of Southeastern Oklahoma State (+53/917) and McLennan (+64/928) in the 11-team tournament.
The Comets' score of 912 was the third-best 54-hole tally in school history.
Freshman
Camilah Porras was the top finisher for UTD, tying for fourth place. She shot a 73-76-74=223 (+7), sinking seven birdies. Her 223 was tied for the fifth-best 54-hole individual score in school history.
Freshman
Molly Woods took 12th place with a 72-78-78-228 (+12) with six birdies. Senior
Mia Gaboriau, playing as an individual, was just behind in 13th with seven birdies and a 77-73-79=229 (+13).
Syrah Javed tied for 17th overall with a 79-76-77=232 (+16) and
Brooke Yount had the low round for the Comets on Tuesday, firing a 73 and ending the tournament in 21st with a 234 (+18).
Yount also made the 19th eagle in UTD history, joining
Carla van Remmen, who made one on Monday.
The Comets will play in their final tournament of the fall beginning Monday, October 20 at the Midwestern State Invitational in Wichita Falls, Texas.
