LAWTON, Okla. - The UT Dallas women's golf team is in first place by five strokes after the first round of the Oklahoma Intercollegiate at Lawton Country Club. Additionally, Comet freshmen
Camilah Porras and
Molly Woods sit atop the individual leaderboard in first and second place, respectively.
UTD shot a 295 (+11) on the par-71 course, leading host Cameron (+16/300) and UT Permian Basin (+20/304), Redlands CC (+30/314), Northwestern Oklahoma State (+34/318), Dodge City (+46/330) and East Central (+57/341). The Comets' round was the fifth-lowest in program history.
Porras shot a -1, 70 and Woods was just behind with a +1, 72. Sophomore
Syrah Javed tied for 10th with a +5, 76 and freshman
Leya Glazer tied for 13th at a +6, 77.
Woods leads all players with five birdies in the first round, while Porras and Glazer are tied for second with four made. Porras' round of 70 is tied for the ninth-best in school history.
The Comets will tee off the final round Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
