RICHARDSON, Texas - Five student-athletes from the American Southwest Conference champion UT Dallas men's basketball team were honored in the league's postseason awards, announced on Wednesday.
Senior guard
Donovan Souter was selected to the First Team and junior guard
Luke Kiser was the Defensive Player of the Year as well as being named Second Team and to the All-Defensive Team. Sophomore center
Austin Page was a Second Team pick and junior guard
Nick Donnelly was an Honorable Mention. Forward
Jordan Balderaz made the All-Freshman Team.
Souter, from Frisco, Texas, averages 19.4 points per game and broke the school record with 93 three-pointers made this season. He also has 119 119 rebounds, 52 assists, four blocks and 34 steals.
Kiser, from Burnet, Texas, becomes the sixth Defensive Player of the Year in program history. A former ASC Freshman of the Year and Honorable Mention last season, he is among the nation's leaders with 156 assists (6.5 per game), to go with 9.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest, three blocks and 52 steals.
Page, from Frisco, was an All-Freshman pick a year ago. This season, he has averaged 17.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game with 31 assists, 19 blocks and 12 steals. Page has also shot 64 percent (121-for-189) from the field.
Donnelly, of Flower Mound, Texas, has averaged 12.4 points while recording 73 rebounds, 67 assists, two blocks and 28 steals. He has made 55 three-pointers this season and is a 90.9 percent (50-for-55) shooter from the free throw line.
In his debut season, Balderaz, from Somerset, Texas, is UTD's leading rebounder with 7.2 per game to go with 8.2 points. He also has 40 assists, six blocks and 23 steals while shooting 52.5 percent (83-for-158).
UTD (18-9) are coming off the program's fifth ASC championship and will open the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament at #15 Trinity (Texas) in San Antonio Friday night with a 7:35 p.m. tipoff.
