GRANBURY, Texas - The #14 UT Dallas men's golf team opened the American Southwest Conference Championship at the Nutcracker Golf Course with a first round 294 (+6) and sit in third place.
Senior
Daniel Shofner leads as an individual with a first round 69 (-3). He made seven birdies, including five on the back nine. He broke his own single-season birdie record, sinking 80 this season.
LeTourneau leads the eight-team field with a 289 (+1), followed by Concordia Texas (291/+3). UTD is ahead of East Texas Baptist (296/+8_, Mary Hardin-Baylor (298/+10), Howard Payne (299/+11), Hardin-Simmons (308/+20) and McMurry (315/+27).
Davis Archer is tied for sixth with an even 72 while making five birdies on the day.
Tyler Durden recorded a 76 (+4) and is tied for 21st and
Parker McCurdy shot a 77 (+5) and is tied for 27th.
The Comets are scheduled to tee off the second round of three Saturday morning, weather permitting.
