ABILENE, Texas - The UT Dallas men's track & field finished third and the women placed fifth in the final standings of the American Southwest Conference Championship at Wilford Moore Stadium Saturday.
The Comets won four events on the final day of competition, giving the program six total for the meet. They also broke nine school records Saturday.Â
UTD had 10 total student-athletes earn all-conference honors -Â
All-ASC First Team - Frank Douglas,
Devan Bailey,
Graeme Maclean,
Sage Herrera
All-ASC Second Team - Colton Dillard,
Kameron Quinn,
Rafe Premo,
Trent Granberry,
Cooper Burgess,
Randi Beckham.
Maclean became a three-time conference champion in the 1,500 meters and won the 800 for the second time. He ran the 1,500 in 4:01.76 and the 800 finals in 1:55.85. Dillard finsihed second in the 800 in 1:58.42 and was fourth in the 1,500 in 4:10.22
Bailey claimed his second first place finish of the meet, earning back-to-back medalist honors in the 5,000 meters in 16:14.92. Douglas was second in the event in 16:25.24.
The 4x400 meter relay team of
Kameron Quinn,
Rafe Premo,
Trent Granberry and
Cooper Burgess took second in the event in 3:22.08. Quinn was fifth in the 200 meter finals in 21.45 seconds and fourth with a school record time of 10.56 in the 100. Premo had a time of 49.40 seconds for a fifth place finish in the 400 meter finals.
Freshman
Zach Sell was third in both hurdle events. He ran the 110 in 14.75 seconds and the 400 in 55.80. Sell was also a fourth-place finisher in the high jump, clearing 1.87 meters (6 ft.-1.5 in.)
Sophomore
Christopher Castro was third in the 1,500 meters in 4:07.96 and
Nathaniel Brim was third with an 800 time of 1:58.57.
Sophomore
Joseph Hussey bested his own school record with a triple jump of 13.14 meters (43 ft.-1.5 in.), finishing fourth.
Lucas Wick was eighth with a shot put of 12.28 meters (40 ft.-3.5 in.) for a new school record.
Quinn, Premo, Burgess and
Bryce Richardson were fourth in the 4x100 relay in 42.60 seconds.
In the women's 800, junior
Sage Herrera won the event for the second consecutive year with mark of 2:18.36.
Freshman
Randi Beckham was second with a time of 59.22 seconds in 400 meter finals. She also broke the school record with a 200 time of 25.96, placing fourth.
Beckham, Herrera,
Amaiyah Harrison and Jada Gadner were fourth place in 4:13.74 in the 4x400 meter relay, breaking the school record by nearly seven seconds. Harrison took third in the 100 meter hurdles in 16.27, also breaking her own record. She was sixth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:13.00.Â
Freshman
Paige Thomas finished fifth with a triple jump of 9.93 meters (32 ft.-7 in.) for a new school record. She was also seventh in 12.85 in the 100 meter dash finals. Thomas, Bekcham,
Nora Daub and
Tia Billingsly were third in the 4x100 relay in 49.90 seconds.
Daub finished third with a pole vault of 2.78 meters (9 ft.-1.5 in.). Freshman
Emily Skrabanek was seventh with a 5,000 meter time of 20:35.95.
The UTD men scored 152 points, placing behind champion McMurry (263) and East Texas Baptist (164) and ahead of Hardin-Simmons (108), LeTourneau (95), Concordia Texas (24) and Ozarks (3).
The Comet women had 83 points, behind McMurry (317), HSU (166), LeTourneau (93) and ETBU (84) and ahead of Concordia (38) and Ozarks (6).
