NORMAN, Okla. - The UT Dallas track & field teams participated in the program's first indoor meet, taking part in the JD Martin Invitational on the campus of the University of Oklahoma Friday.
In the invite portion of the meet, the Comets, beginning their fifth season of action, ran along side hosts Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and several NCAA Division II programs.
Sophomore
Randi Beckham took third place in the women's 400-meter dash in 1:01.85. Senior
Sage Herrera took eighth in the 800 meters in 2:29.68. Freshman
Rowen Hughes ran the invite 60-meter hurdles in 10.27 for ninth place in the preliminaries, but pulled out of the finals.
For the men, freshman
Prithvij Rajesh took seventh in the men's mile in 4:54.57.
In the open division, UTD picked up a pair of first place finishes for the men. Junior
Andy Hamze won the 3,000 meter run in 9:06.85, while
Christopher Castron was runner-up in 9:11.37. Freshman
Nicholas Holland was the winner of the 800 with a time of 1:59.32.
Other top finishers for the men included -
Colton Dillard in the 800 meters - 2:05.03, 6th place
Ethan Turner int he 3,000 meters - 9:14.93, 5th place.
Zachary Carroll in long jump - 5.97 meters (19 ft.-7 in.), 10th place
Nick Hofer in the 400 meters - 53.65 seconds, 11th place
Matthew Okansen in the 200 meters - 24:08 seconds, 16th place
Raphael Park in the 60 meter preliminaries - 7:49 seconds, 29th place
The women's top finishers included -
Ellie Suo-Anttila in the mile - 5:44.19, 5th place
Lorraine Martineau in the 3,000 meters - 13:35.35, 7th place
Becki Jeffery in the 800 meters - 2:36.76, 9th place
Rhiana Johnson in the 400 meters - 1:05.03, 10th place
Tia Billingsly in the 60 meter preliminaries - 8.65, 14th place
Sasha Simons in the 200 meters - 28.39, 17th place
The Comets will wrap up the indoor schedule on Saturday, February 8 at the FastTrak Athletix Meet in Houston.
