GEORGETOWN, Texas - The UT Dallas women's golf team is in third place after the opening round of the West Region Invitational at Berry Creek Country Club Monday.

The Comets shot a 328 (+40) and sit behind #21 Trinity (Texas) with a  305 (+17) and host Southwestern (Texas) with a 326 (+38). Northwestern (Minn.) (359/+71) and Centenary (La.) (367/+79) trail the Comets.

Senior Sofia Trevino paced the Comets with a 78 (+5) and two birdies, tying for third. She is four shots off the individual lead. Sophomore Andra Anderson is tied for eighth with an 81 (+9) and seniors Danielle Dimafelix and Maddy Vilven each shot an 85 (+13) and are tied for 11th. Dimafelix also sank two birdie putts.

The final round will tee off Tuesday morning.
