NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The UT Dallas track & field teams wrapped up the Carl Kight Invitational & Multi hosted by Stephen F. Austin with another school record falling - the sixth of the meet.
In the final event of the day, the men's 4x400 meter relay team made up of freshmen
Matthew Okansen and
Sam Bartels and juniors
Joseph Hussey and
Rafe Premo finished third in 3:19.37. The runners broke the Comets' two-year old record by 1.08 seconds.
Okansen was also a 16th-place finisher with a personal best 100-meter dash mark of 11.00 seconds as well as running the 200 in 22.22, also placing 16th. Premo took 19th in the 400-meter dash in 50.16 seconds. Sophomore
Erik Grover ran the 800 meters in 1:59.21, placing 33rd.
For the women, the 4x100 relay team of
Tia Billingsly,
Randi Beckham,
Paige Thomas and
Mariah Gibson finished sixth in 48.85 seconds.
Rhiana Johnson, Gibson,
Catriona Walker and Beckham were also fifth in 4:07.82 in the 4x400.
Freshman
Rowen Hughes was 11th in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.82 seconds.
Jayla Lewis finished ninth in 1:13.10 in the 400 hurdles.
Senior
Sage Herrera ran the 800 in 2:20.90, good for 16th place. Gibson was 18th with a 200-meter dash time of 26.41 seconds and 23rd with a 12.92-second mark in the 100. Walker placed 22nd in 1:02.42 in the 400.
In the only field event of the day, junior
Chisom Mbah recorded a discus throw of 29.49 meters (96 ft.-9 in.), finishing 19th.
UTD's final meet of the year will be at the SMU Inivte in Dallas on Saturday, May 3.
