Angela Marin is pleased to announce the next two former student-athletes who will comprise the 2025 class of the UTD Athletics Hall of Honors.
Halea Williams Paige from volleyball and Maddi Hess from women's basketball will be inducted in a ceremony on Saturday, November 1 at 7 p.m. at the Hilton in Richardson.
Halea Williams Paige lettered for the Comets from 2009-12 and was a two-time All-American Southwest Conference First Team selection. She also earned Academic All-ASC honors three times and was the AVCA National Player of the Week during her senior season. Paige played in 113 matches, racking up 742 kills, 166 digs and 375 blocks - which ranks third in program history. She still holds the school records for most blocks in a season with 140 and 11 total blocks in a match. During her tenure, Paige and the Comets went 100-22 and won the 2009 ASC title, qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
Madi Hess was a WBCA All-American for the Comets, as she played two seasons from 2013-15. She was an All-ASC First Team and D3hoops.com All-Region Second Team selection as a senior. Hess earned Academic All-ASC and CoSIDA Academic All-District honors and was the ASC Distinguished Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2015, as well as the UTD Female Student-Athlete of the Year in 2014-15. She holds the school records for career three-point percentage (44.7) and assists per game (4.4), season three-point percentage (45.9), assists (158) and assists per game (5.1) and most free throws made in a game (15). Hess averaged 9.8 points, and 6.1 rebounds per game with 245 assists and 89 steals in two seasons. The Comets went 47-11, won the ASC title in 2015 and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Hess earned a BA in Emerging Media & Communications in 2015.
