Hunter Wolfinger shot a 77 with three birdies

AKUMAL, Mexico - The UT Dallas men's golf team are tied for seventh place after the first round of the Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya on Sunday.

The Comets shot a 313 (+25) and are tied with Lone Star Conference rival Lubbock Christian in the 10-team field.

Freshman Abhay Duggal is tied for 17th with 76 (+4) to lead UTD. He made 12 pars in the round. Greg Lewis and Hunter Wolfinger are tied for 22nd place with a 77 (+5). Lewis made his second career eagle in the opening round and Wolfinger sank three birdies. Drew McSpadden is tied for 44th with an 83 (+11) and two birdies.

The Comets will tee off the second of three rounds at 11:10 a.m. on Monday.
