RICHARDSON, TX (04.05.09) – Two weeks ago, the UT Dallas softball team defeated the University of Dallas for its fourth win of the season. Sunday afternoon, the Crusaders avenged that loss, taking a pair of one-sided victories over UTD, 15-3 and 10-0.

The Comets, who have lost 12 straight since that victory, fell to 4-20 with the losses. U.Dallas improved to 17-14 overall.

In the first game, UD jumped out to a 6-0 advantage through the first three innings, but the Comets came to life enough in the bottom of the 3rd to cut the lead in half. Kaci Hollingsworth, who was 4-for-4 in the doubleheader led off with a double and scored when a Carter Ryan fly ball was dropped in centerfield. Caysie Norum followed that up with a two-run home run over the centerfield wall for UTD's only runs of the day. UD responded, however, with a seven-run 4th and added two in the 5th to end the game on the "run rule."

The Comets could not figure out Crusader starter Belle Swaja in the second game, managing just three hits (two from Hollingsworth). UTD had its only real threat in the 1st, leaving runners at second and third base; but only managed two more baserunners the rest of the game.

Natalie Duran finished the day with three hits.

UTD returns to American Southwest Conference East Division play Tuesday afternoon when its hosts the University of the Ozarks in a 2 pm doubleheader.
