Sophomore midfielder Emily Hokanson tallied her seventh goal of the season in the 11th minute, thanks to a pass from junior defender Tori Theobalt, her first assist of the season. In the 87th minutes, senior midfielder Haley Renfro added what turned out to be the game winner with her fourth goal of the season, using a cornerkick from junior defender Brittany Ansel, her ninth assist of the year.

The Comets nearly recorded their sixth consecutive shutout, but Concordia's Axita Patel netted a goal for the Tornados in the game's final minute. Despite the goal, UTD extended its unbeaten streak to eight straight games, outscoring opponents, 33-2, during the stretch.

Senior goalkeeper Andrea Jones picked up the win for the Comets, collecting five saves. UTD had 14 shots against the Tornados, six of which were on goal, as the Comets secured its 11th 10-win season in the past 12 years.

With two games left in the regular season, the Comets (now 10-5-1 overall) currently sit in third place in the American Southwest Conference with a 8-2-1 mark. Even if they are unable to win either of their final two matches of the regular season, the Comets would finish no worse than in a tie for the final playoff spot and hold tie-breakers over other potential qualifiers - including now, Concordia.

The Comets have advanced to the ASC Postseason Tournament every season since 2002.

UTD will travel to Texas-Tyler, currently in second place in the league, Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest. The Comets close out the regular season next Saturday, Oct. 30, at Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark. The ASC Championship Tournament is slated for Nov. 5-7 at the site of the regular-season champion.
