Box Score RICHARDSON, TX (09.18.10) – The UT Dallas women's soccer team, which had scored just three goals over a four-game skid the last two weeks, erupted for nine goals in overpowering Louisiana College, 9-0, for their first American Southwest Conference win of the season.
Sophomore
Emily Hokanson tallied a hat trick and added an assist as UTD (3-4-0, 1-1-0) doubled its offensive output for the season with an attack that undermanned Louisiana College (0-6-1, 0-1-1) could not handle. UTD peppered the Lady Wildcat defense with a huge, 47-shot attack while never allowing LC on its end of the field.
In addition to Hokanson, six other Comets put the ball in net and three of those also picked up assists. Junior
Leah Bowyer assisted on two goals and scored herself while freshman
Eboni Udenza and sophomore
Taylor Pounds each had an assist to go with a later goal.
UTD got on the board twice within the first 1:45 of the game. Pounds scored an unassisted goal off a rebound at the :40 mark, then Bowyer found Hokanson just 1:05 later on a 2-on-1 rush to the net.
The Comets made it 4-0 with another blast of scoring. Freshman
Jamie Rheman got her first collegiate goal on a high diagonal shot to the upper left at the 10:44 mark, then Pounds found Bowyer this time just 1:04 later on another rush to the net. Sophomore
Cassie Lydick finished the first-half scoring on a double assist from Hokanson and Udenze to make it 5-0 at intermission.
Hokanson then scored twice in a 3:30 span early in the second period, first unassisted on a rebound, then taking a Bowyer cross in front of the net. A pair of freshmen finished it out. Udenze scored her first collegiate goal at the 57:44 mark and
Krysta Howard did the same in the 80th minute as
Katie Makanani and
Kate Gougler contributed assists.
UTD dominated the offensive attack, earning 13 corner kicks and missing several other opportunities on offsides calls.
The Comets meet arch-rival Hardin-Simmons in Abilene Friday followed by a Saturday game with McMurry.
