Box Score ABILENE, TX (09.25.10) – The UT Dallas women's soccer team evened up its American Southwest Conference record at 2-2 after bouncing back from a 2-0 loss at Hardin-Simmons yesterday for an 11-0 whitewash of McMurry Saturday afternoon.
Freshman
Eboni Udenze from Plano led the scoring onslaught with a four-goal afternoon, tying three other former Comets (4-5 overall) for third on the alltime list for most goals in a game. (Miranda Logan scored seven times in a match with Concordia 10 years ago.) As a team, the Comets became the third UTD team to score 11 goals in a game, tying for 5th on the team's all-time list.
Leah Bowyer, the team's scoring leader, and newcomer
Jean Francis added a pair of goals apiece in the runaway win.
The Comets got on the board first in the 13th minute of action and didn't let up. Bowyer scored first on an assist from
Taylor Pounds, then 20 minutes later, Udenze scored back-to-back unassisted goals within four minutes of each other to make it 3-0 at the half.
UTD wasted little time making it a blowout after the break. Just 1:26 into the second half,
Tori Theobalt scored on an assist from Bowyer. Less than a minute later, Bowyer got her second goal off a
Brittany Ansel corner kick. Ansel set up
Elizabeth Sohns with another corner in the 53rd minute and then got a goal of her own on a free kick in the 64th minute.
Udenze was back in the net again less than a minute after Ansel's score on Ansel's third corner kick assist of the day. She scored her fourth goal at the 82:29 mark before Francis got on the board twice off a pair of
Emily Hokanson assists with less than eight minutes remaining.
The Comets dominated the ball, launching 31 shots (18 on goal) while shutting out McMurry completely. UTD looks to even up its overall record Thursday when it hosts Howard Payne.
