Box Score RICHARDSON, TX (09.03.10) – The UT Dallas women's soccer team is off to its best start since 2005 after improving to 2-0 Friday night with another offensive outburst in a 4-0 victory over North Park University of Illinois.

Cassie Lydick Goal
Four different Comets put the ball in the Vikings' net as UTD outshot North Park, 14-4 on the night. UTD had not won two straight to open the season since beginning the 2005 campaign with victories over Northwood and Richard Stockton.

Friday night, UTD got a pair of goals in each half and both sets came in bunches as the Comets used their speed and skill to keep the pressure on a physical North Park team.

At the 33:59 mark, sophomore Cassie Lydick took a feed from freshman Eboni Udenze and launched the ball high from about 20 yards out to give the Comets the only goal they would need. But then, just four minutes later, UTD made it 2-0 when former basketball player Kori Joyce scored her first collegiate soccer goal, booting in a rebound off a Brittany Ansel scoring attempt.

Leah Bowyer Mug
Haley Renfro Mug
UTD finished off the Vikings with a pair of closely-scored goals late in the match. Last year's leading scorer, junior Leah Bowyer finished off a rush from transfer Jean Francis with her first goal of the season at the 80:56 mark. The Comets then converted another rush two minutes later when senior Haley Renfro took over the team scoring lead with her third goal of the young season, taking a feed sophomore Kelly Fields.

Renfro, who went through entire 2009 season without a goal or an assist.

The night was not all about offense as UTD's defense picked up its second straight shutout of the year. Sophomore Kately Flory got the start in goal, but did not have to make as single save as the Comets' backline gave up just four shot and didn't allow anything on goal.

UTD faces a big challenge in keeping its perfect start alive when the Comets travel to Tyler Sunday to meet perennial powerhouse Cal Lutheran on a neutral field. The Comets return home next Friday and Sunday, Sept. 10 and 12, to face nationally-ranked Trinity along with Southwestern.
