RICHARDSON, TX (01.21.11) - When the Comet teams and their fans return to the UTD Activity Center, they will get a pleasant surprise when they see the new look on either side of the court.

Completed earlier this week, Specialty Supply replaced the 2,400 capacity bleachers in the Activity Center with a product from Hussey Seating Company. As seen in the photo above, the new bleachers have a little extra "spirit" as both sides of the gym floor show the letters "U-T-D."

In addition, the Athletic Department has secured a set of new backlit scorer's tables that will be positioned along each side of the court. A set of three tables will house the official game scorers, scoreboard, public address and stat crew on the south side of the gym while tables along the north side will be designated for media, radio crew and other VIPs.

"With the installation of the new bleachers, the additional new construction which started in January on the Visitor Center, new backlit scorers tables and both basketball programs having tremendous seasons, we are excited and fortunate to be a part of a the vitality at UT Dallas," said UTD Director of Athletics Chris Gage. "The new bleacher system will hopefully provide the fans and spectators with a more comfortable environment and enjoyable experience."

As a reminder, due to the construction of the new Visitor Center and Bookstore that will be part of the UTD Activity Center, parking and entry to UTD home athletic events has been altered. All fans and spectators need to enter the UTD from the North entrance. For more details, click here.

The Comets return to their newly remodeled gym Saturday, Jan. 29, when they host East Texas Baptist. TIp-off for the women's game is 1 p.m. with the men's game to follow.
