With the win, the Comets (now 12-3, 10-1 ASC) can secure the No. 2 seed in the ASC Tournament with either a win or tie against Texas-Tyler Saturday. That game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the UTD Soccer Field. Concordia (now 10-5, 7-3 ASC) dropped back to fourth place in the ASC standings, one game behind UTT (8-2).

UTD's lone goal came in the 26th minute when freshman Emily Hughes took advantage of a loose ball after a Comet corner kick. Brittany Ansel's corner from the left side found the head of teammate Jasmine Chipps, but Tornado keeper Olivia Jablinski was there to make the save. Emily Hokanson then tried put away the deflection, but her shot was blocked by a CTX defender. The ball eventually rolled to Hughes, 25 yards out, before her one-timer gave her the first goal of her collegiate career.

The Comets limited Concordia to just two shots on the night, including only one shot on goal. UTD took 19 shots, nine on goal, with Leah Bowyer leading the charge with five and Katie Makanani taking three shots. The shutout was UTD's 11th of the season, now four shy of the program record of 15 set in 2002. Comet keeper Brittany Best earned her eighth shutout of the season, individually, needing to make just one save.
