The Comets (now 16-4) managed just three shots as they had their school-record 12-game winning streak snapped. Senior Leah Bowyer and sophomore Jamie Rheman each recorded first-half shots on goal, and freshman Jasmine Chipps added a shot on goal in the second half. Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Best finished the game with three saves.

Hardin-Simmons (19-1) opened the scoring in the 22nd minute on a goal by Vivian Wells, assisted by Shannon Byrd. The host Cowgirls added an insurance goal in the 55th minute when Devon Howard scored after assists from Julianne Kucera and Katie Kuykendall. HSU took 11 shots in the contest, five of which were on goal.

UTD likely had its season come to a close with the loss after tying a program record with 16 wins. The Comets advanced to the ASC title game for the eighth time in program history. Bowyer, junior Emily Hokanson and freshman Emily Hughes were named to the All-Tournament Team.
