Begzos shot an 81 to open Sunday and finished with a 74 Monday, the lowest round by a Comet in the event. Carroll shot a 77 to lead the Comets in round one and shot a 78 in Monday's final round. The duo tied for 47th out of the 105 golfers competing. "We are a young team and two of the three freshmen it was their first collegiate tourney and they all posted the best rounds," said head coach Eddie Bull. "After we got over a case of nerves, they showed great poise and character.  Our two upper classmen helped the freshmen cope and play better and we did on Monday."

Texas-Tyler won the team title after shooting a 581 (292-289) over the two rounds. Centre College and Huntingdon College tied for second at 597 while Transylvania was fourth at 600.

The Comets return to action Oct. 3-4 at the Al Jones Memorial Tournament, hosted by Texas-Tyler at the Cascades Country Club in Tyler.
