DEHLI, LA (03.06.12) - The UT Dallas men's golf team returned action this week for the Mississippi College Invitational and finished the two-day, 36-hole event tied for eighth place. The event was held at Black Bear Golf Course, a par-72, 6,964-yard course.
Freshman
Joey Kron led the Comets with a two-round total of 160, carding an opening-round 79 Monday and finished with an 81 in the second round, to tie for 15th place.
Johnny Begzos was close behind at 161 (80-81) for 19th place. Keaton Kelly placed 34th at 165 (87-78),
Chase Curtis was 38th at 166 (77-89) and
Corey Steinmann was 49th (82-87).
Maryville took the team title, finishing with an aggregate total 630 (319-311) after sitting in sixth place after the opening round. Texas Lutheran finished second at 634 (318-316) and Mary Hardin-Baylor was third at 636 (310-326). The Comets were tied for third after Monday's round, but dropped five spots to finish in eighth at 645 (318-327).
UTD returns to the links, Apr. 2-3, for the LeTourneau Spring Invitational held at the Pine Crest Country Club in Longview.
