Box Score ABILENE, TX (09.15.12) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team managed just one shot for the game as the Comets could not keep up with No. 7-ranked Hardin-Simmons in a 2-0 defeat on the road.

The Comets fell to 4-2 on the season and 1-1 in American Southwest Conference play.
The host Cowgirls (now 4-0-1, 2-0 ASC) came out with a flurry, registering seven shots in the first seven minutes of the game. However, only one of those shots was on goal and saved by UTD goalkeeper
Brittany Best. The Comets would not record a scoring opportunity until the 16th minute when
Nicole Frank's shot sailed high after a
Taylor Maeker corner kick. It would prove to be UTD's only shot of the contest.
Hardin-Simmons broke open a scoreless game in the 33rd minute when Courtney Cramer tallied her fourth goal of the season on a header thanks to a crossing pass from teammate Kaite Kuykendall. At that point, the Cowgirls held a 14-1 advantage in shots. HSU took 14 more unanswered shots throughout the remainder of the game. HSU took seven corners in the opening half, compared to just one by the Comets.
After a quiet opening to the second half, Cramer doubled the Cowgirl's lead in the 53rd minute as she tallied her second goal of the game, and ASC-leading fifth of the season, on a header on a corner kick by Kuykendall. Kuykendall leads the ASC now with six assists on the season.
Best played the first half in goal for the Comets, collecting three saves.
Macaire Ament took over at the break and made four second-half saves.
The Comets return home Thursday to host Schreiner. Game time is 5 p.m. at the UTD Soccer Field.
