Taylor Maeker scored the only goal of the game via penalty kick as the UT Dallas women's soccer team held on for a 1-0 win at Austin College Sunday afternoon.
Maeker, a native of Lubbock, netted her first goal of the season in the 51st minute as she converted after freshman
Olivia Garcia was taken down in the Lady Roo penalty box. Maeker wrapped up a solid weekend with the goal, also collecting an assist in Friday's 2-0 home win over Huston-Tillotson.
The Comets (now 2-0) got another solid team performance on defense, limiting the host Lady Roos to just five shots and only two shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper
Brittany Best stopped both shots she faced, including a penalty kick by AC not two minutes after Maeker's goal. Best guessed right on a the penalty kick taken by Lady Roo Kelsey D'Amore in the 53rd minute.
UTD finished the game with 19 shots, 11 on goal, with sophomore
Andrea Guevara leading the way with four shots. Garcia had three shots, two on goal.
The Comets return to action this weekend with a pair of non-conference home games. UTD hosts Southwest Friday at 7 p.m. before welcoming regional powerhouse Trinity Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games will be played at the UTD Soccer Field.
