TYLER, TX (10.31.15) - For the second straight season, the UT Dallas women's cross country finished as runners up at the American Southwest Conference Championships, placing second behind host Texas-Tyler Saturday morning. The Comet men placed third in the meet, also for the second straight season.

For the women, sophomores
Samantha Tschirhart and
Lindsey Rayborn earned first team All-ASC honors while junior
Mallory Bing claimed second team honors as UTD picked up their second consecutive second-place finish at the league meet. Tschirhart finished fourth overall in the six-kilometer race in a time of 25:06. Rayborn was seventh at 25:30 and Bing 12th at 25:53.
Sam Hartke, a second-team All-ASC performer from a year ago, would finish 19th in a time of 27:00,
Lisa Bagen 31st at 28:04,
Megan Lutchman 38th at 28:37,
Rachael Mukweyi 50th at 30:56,
Catherine Davis 58th at 32:11,
Lillian Hannigan 66th at 34:01 and
Stephanie Kubecka 76 at 37:19. There were 78 competitors in the women's race.
Host Texas-Tyler claimed the team title with 32 points, placing seven runners in the top 15. UTD was second with 55 points while East Texas Baptist (101) and Concordia Texas (102) finished third and fourth, respectively. Ozarks (130) was fifth, LeTourneau (168) sixth, Hardin-Simmons (174) seventh and Sul Ross State (179) eighth. Second-year ASC member McMurry competed in the meet, but was not eligible to score. UTT's Brittany Brunson earned individual honors, winning the race in a time of 24:57.
On the men's side, freshman
Alireza Nourani and junior
Brenton Heble picked up first team All-ASC recognition while sophomore
Keishi Mii was a second-team honoree as the Comets repeated their third-place finish from a year ago. Nourani, who was named the ASC Freshman of the Year, placed fifth overall in the eight-kilometer race with a time of 28:29. Heble was sixth at 28:30 and Mii was 13th at 29:18.

Mohammad Nourani 36th at 31:34,
Anthony McNair 37th at 31:51,
David Merz 42nd at 32:29,
Luis Falcon 43rd at 32:31 and
Emanuel Grella 52nd at 33:23.
Texas-Tyler also claimed the men's title, finishing with 26 points placing three runners among the top four finishers. UTT's Matthew Markert claimed individual honors with a time of 27:36. LeTourneau was a distant second place with 64 points while UTD finished with 69 points. ETBU (93) was fourth, CTX (144) fifth, HSU (158) sixth, Ozarks (211) seventh, SRSU (221) eighth and Louisiana College (255) ninth. McMurry also competed in the men's race but did not score.
The Comets take next weekend off before heading to Winchester, Va., for the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Championships.
