Kyle Coulter has been named the American Southwest Conference East Division Men's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.
A native of Shawnee Mission, Kan., Coulter averaged a "double-double" as the Comets split a pair of games at the Centenary Classic over the weekend. The Travis High School product scored nine points and added 10 rebounds in a 65-41 win over Rust College Saturday afternoon before collecting 11 points and 12 rebounds in Sunday's 66-57 loss to the host Gents. Over the two games, Coulter shot 31.8 percent (7-of-22) from the field and four assists and a pair of blocked shots.
The Comets (6-1, 1-0 ASC) opened the season with six straight wins, the longest such stretch since the 2008-09 season, before falling to Centenary Sunday. UTD returns to action Saturday, Jan. 2, when the Comets host Howard Payne in ASC action.
